Some of the hottest new classes
to be offered at Bead Lounge are featuring PMC, also known as Precious Metal Clay.
Literally "hot" becausePMC is a modeling compound created
with reclaimed silver particles suspended in a formable clay that is burnt
off after shaping, leaving only the metal behind.
In this way, complex textures and forms can be created using modeling
tools of all sorts.
It makes it possible to use silver in ways that previously required
lost wax castings or carving of the metal itself, and allows the artistic
use of silver in ways that may have been prohibitive due to the tools and
experience needed. PMC comes in sheets, packets, and pre-loaded into syringes
for precision placement of design elements.
With it, artists can create pieces in silver such as the beads, rings,
toggles and clasps and pendant pieces as shown here.
Peggy and Diana are each trained and certified PMC instructors, and
each is also a professional artist working in other media, including textiles
and polymer clay.
Both enjoy working with multimedia jewelry, including fused glass. Peggy
uses dichroic glass for its gorgeous color and sparkle. Cubic Zirconia
add a glomourous touch to rings and other pieces.
They bring to the classes both worktable expertise and professional
experience in many construction and decorative techniques along with a
background of jewelry design and an eye for color and form.
