For
the month of February
we're celebrating with hearts & flowers in our own ways!
Many of the artists whose work is shown on this month's
page have been featured in previous months, and we're happy to showcase
a look at what they are doing lately!
We're still in love with rocks and crystals, beads and baubles--come
in and see our Valentine Art.
We've got all sorts of goodies like the citrines, cinnabar hearts, black
tourmalines, and shiva lingham stones shown here. (But please don't eat
them--they are rocks, not candy!)
Laura Humenik made her coppery contribution
to our hearts and flowers theme with this delicate necklace, and several
other pieces. The delicate wire and bead work combines three sections to
make this beautiful and lightwight spray of blossoms.
We also offer her class to show you how--"Flowers On The Vine"
is February's New Spotlight Class as well.
Patti Weber's pink and crystal bracelet combines several strands for
a lush look.
The silver toggle clasp hints at the sort of antique elegance and attention
to detail that is a hallmark of collectable vintage jewelry. Patti also
teaches our Bead BASICS and Crystal BASICS classes.
Peggy Houchin is our PMC instructor, and her own new work showcases
her expertise with using form and texture in this exciting medium . She
also offers classes for certification in the use of Precious Metal Clay.
Polymer Clay (PC) is another incredibly versatile and exciting medium.
Not to be confused with PMC, which is silver, Polymer Clay comes in many
colors and several popular brands. Learn how to use it to make beads in
the classes that Sarajane Helm offers here at Bead lounge. The beads in
this necklace were made in in the Millefiore Cane class.
We've got "Tramp Lamps" made of reworked vintage lingerie
created by Kelly Butler, fused glass plates and bowls by local artists
Margie Drake and Tim Zaerr and pottery. Oil and watercolor paintings are
from the local studios of Anita Jantz and Holly
Burger. Holly also creates
wonderful and energy conducting wire wrapped crystal and stone jewelry--and
teaches many of our wire wrapping classes too! There's an abundance of
jewelry of all sorts, crystals, beads, porcelain and polymer clay roses,
and another appearance by Golde the soft sculpture doll. This time she
shows off a bit in antique jet beads, hand dyed vintage lace and a satin
corset, all dressed for romance in a Dance Hall motif.
